Basingstoke Area Youth Percussion Ensemble

BAYPE was set up to provide the young people of Basingstoke and surrounding area the opportunity of playing percussion with others and of providing young percussionists for the other orchestras and bands within the BAYO tier.

The ensemble have an excellent range of instruments to perform on, thanks to generous donations from the Four Lanes Trust, the Southern Co-Operative Society and Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

BAYPE celebrate the purchase of tubular bells, enabled by fundraising efforts of the charity, donations from anonymous parent donors (hiding behind the instrument in this image) and local county councillor grants. 2 of the councillors (seen either side of BAYPE) attended the debut concert of the instrument at The Anvil on 9th May 2015.

Hampshire Music Service co-ordinates bands, ensembles, orchestras and choirs for children and young people, all over Hampshire. The service organises some 400 performances every year, which can range from small gatherings of musicians and their families, to large events in public venues such as Winchester Cathedral, The Anvil and even The Royal Albert Hall. The service also supports schools to provide quality music tuition and affordable instrument hire to pupils.

Hampshire Music Service charges a fee for Ensemble Membership, which during the school year 2021-2022,  is £35 per term and for County Ensemble Membership is £45 per term. If your child belongs to more than one ensemble you will only pay one fee.
