Basingstoke Area Youth String Orchestra

Conductor: Paul Timms

Assistant: Tori Eglin

Rehearsals: Fridays - weekly, 5.00 - 6.00pm

Queen Mary's College, Cliddesden Road, Basingstoke

The Basingstoke Area Youth String Orchestra play a variety of music from classical to contemporary.

As well as performing in the main BAYOC concerts, the Orchestra have successfully taken part at the Basingstoke Music Festival and have performed with other Hampshire string orchestras in concerts at the Anvil.

For the past two years BAYSO have attended a training weekend at Avon Tyrell in the New Forest with other Basingstoke ensembles. These have been a great experience for the Orchestra, both musically and socially. They have just returned from a trip to Basingstoke's twin town of Euskirchen where they performed concerts.

Towards the end of the summer term, there is an open rehearsal when potential new players can come along and experience playing in the Orchestra, but new members are welcome throughout the year. The standard of players is from grade 4 upwards, and many players enjoy attending so much that they stay on to the end of their school education.

Hampshire Music Service charges a fee for Ensemble Membership, which during the school year 2016 - 17,  is £25 per term and for County Ensemble Membership is £35 per term. If your child belongs to more than one ensemble you will only pay one fee.
